Embossing & Hot Stamping

A hot-pressing technique that imprints a substrate according to the pattern of a cylinder. This process creates a recessed or raised effect with varying intensity, depending on the substrate’s initial thickness and the technique used. Montdor has developed expertise in this field for over 30 years and offers various techniques:

  • Shiny or Matte Hot Stamping: Surface effect on the fabric
  • Shiny or Matte Embossing: In-depth effect on the fabric

Printed Hot Stamping: Printing of the stamped area using our 110 plain colors in 150 cm width or a custom pattern.

Metallic Hot Stamping: Metallization of the stamped area using our metallic films in 150 cm width

Target Markets : Automotive, Sportswear, Lingerie, Composites, Home Furnishings, Wall Coverings, Apparel…

Key Features : Over 350-cylinder designs (geometric, floral, animal patterns, leather/textile/wood effects…), including some historical designs over 100 years old :

  • Working widths from 30 to 340 cm
  • In-line slitting available
  • Custom engraving of new designs or logos upon request

Materials Processed : Woven or non-woven textiles, coated substrates, plastic films (PES, PA, PP, PE…), membranes, papers, foams, metal sheets.

Molding

Molding is a continuous thermocompression technique for thick multilayer composites, using a cylinder pattern to create deep 2D and 3D relief effects.

Target Markets : Automotive, Sportswear, Lingerie, Home Furnishings, Wall Coverings, Apparel…

Key Features :

  • Working width: from 150 cm to 200 cm
  • 50-cylinder designs in the collection
  • Custom engraving of new designs or logos upon request

Sampling Option : Sampling is possible using a platen thermocompression machine (discontinuous process), with access to over 200 plates.

Lamination of Flexible Materials in Rolls

Using hot-melt thermofusible adhesive applied through engraved cylinders, this advanced, low-carbon-footprint technique creates a flexible, washable-resistant composite.

  • Working Width: 100 cm to 182 cm
  • A wide range of cylinders ensures precise adhesive application: from 3 g to 50 g/m².
  • Various adhesive chemistries tailored to each type of substrate and desired functional properties (PES, PA, PUR, PU, PO, PSA, etc.).

Materials Processed : Textiles, non-wovens, meshes, foams, papers, films (PES, PU, PVC, PO), waterproof or breathable membranes.

Optional : Inline slitting available

Target Markets : Automotive, Sportswear, Lingerie, Composites, Upholstery, Wall Coverings, Luggage, Apparel, PPE, Sun Protection, Medical, and more.

Lamination by Calendering

Assembly of flexible materials in rolls using the thermoplastic properties of substrates or by adding adhesive films and webs.

  • Working Width : 50 cm to 320 cm
  • Various adhesive film chemistries characterized and adapted to each type of substrate and desired functional properties (PES, PU, PVC, PO, etc.).
  • Materials Processed : Textiles, non-wovens, meshes, foams, films (PES, PU, PVC, PO).
  • Optional : Inline slitting available

Target Markets : Automotive, Sportswear, Lingerie, Composites, Upholstery, Wall Coverings, Sun Protection.

Coating & Dot Print Adhesive Application

Coating & Dot Print

Application of a polymer layer on the surface of a substrate, adding technical or aesthetic functionalities such as :

  • Anti-slip properties
  • Flame retardancy
  • Abrasion resistance
  • Decorative effects
  • Working Width: 100 to 170 cm
  • Optional: Inline slitting available

A wide range of characterized polymer chemistries adapted to desired functional and aesthetic properties.

Target Markets : PPE, Wall Coverings, Furniture, Apparel, Automotive, Sportswear, Lingerie, and more.

Adhesive Application

Application of a permanent or repositionable tack adhesive layer on various substrates.

  • A protective film can be applied upon request.
  • Working Width : 100 to 180 cm
  • Optional: Inline slitting available

Target Markets : Composites, Construction, Furniture, and more…

Transfer Printing

Sublimation Transfer Printing

Custom printing of your substrates using transfer printing paper.

  • Working Width : 150 cm to 320 cm
  • Solid colors in a permanent collection: a range of 110 solid colors available in 150 cm width.
  • Custom color or design studies in large or small widths upon request.
  • Supply of digital transfer papers on demand.
  • Substrates can be printed on one or both sides.
  • All combinations are possible.

Target Markets : Apparel, Events, Sportswear, Lingerie, and more.

Warp Printing by Sublimation

Montdor co-developed the modern adaptation of this ancestral technique.
Printing is done on a set of warp threads unwound from a beam before weaving.

Rooted in textile tradition, warp printing features a deliberate lack of sharpness in the design, creating a blending of shapes and colors. After weaving the weft—preferably Jacquard—the pattern appears in filigree, similar to an Ikat effect.

Maximum Working Width: 320 cm

Target Markets : Wall Coverings, Furniture, Apparel, and more.

Metallization

Montdor offers metallization through the lamination of metallized films or metal transfer to achieve a shiny or matte metallic effect in various tones on a substrate.

  • Shiny effects: gold, silver, vibrant colors, red, intense blue, purple
  • « Aging » effects: tin, bronze
  • Matte effects
  • Metallization according to a cylinder pattern: Mille points, Brushed effects, Designs…
  • Metallization according to a metallized film pattern
  • All over (full coverage)
  • Maximum working width: 150 cm

Target markets : Aerospace, Event industry, Wall coverings, Apparel…

Pleating & Crumpling

Pleating of substrates through mechanical action, which allows for the creation of various finishes such as long pleating like Fortuny, gathering, pleating with patterns, etc.

Crumpling of substrates through mechanical action, which allows for the creation of various finishes, such as a very slightly wrinkled appearance (spider-type crumpling) or a heavily marked appearance to create volume (glass-shard type crumpling).

Target market : Clothing, Wall coverings, Furniture, and technical sectors.

Maximum working width: 320 cm for crumpling and 180 cm for pleating.

These pleating/crumpling operations can be combined with transfer printing, metallization, or embossing.
